Knight Knight

After hearing an aircraft call ATC with the word "night" in the name, I saw these two helicopters flying in
formation along the coast past Montecito toward Point Mugu. I looked them up on wiki just now and found
out they're probably USMC Sea
Knight transport helicopters. I'd seen them earlier landing at SBA from the North, so I guess they'd
been doing exercises and stopped in for R&R (rest and refueling).

And even the newest CH-46 dates to 1971, so the maintenance guys are probably real busy after each flight.

If you heard the "night" in the callsign, it was probably "Knightrider," HMMT-164 out of MCAS Camp Pendleton. It's a training squadron for the CH-46E.
