I second the goleta upholstery shop suggestion, I tried lots of downtown SB options to no avail.

You might check Your Remnant Store downtown. Craft Essentials in Goleta (if they haven't closed yet) has batting but not foam. Is there any place else nearer than Ventura that carries a decent selection of fabric and sewing supplies?

Too bad. I had just what you needed-----six months ago. Gave it away free on Craigslist. Some guy took the whole lot (for a big chair) and said he was going to redo the seat on his motorcycle . . .

Speaking of chair, did Edhat Editor find his replacement chair yet? Sorry to change topics...

I have made this search myself and was able to find thin batting at Craft Essentials. Not great stuff, but ok. No foam. No other places in town, including Your Remnant Store had it. Upholstery shops would not sell it to me.

I have bought supplies from the upholstery shop in downtown Goleta. They are at 5788 Hollister Ave. (805) 964-2001 http://www.foamonline.com. That is their phone number and web address. They definitely sell foam - all kinds of foam.

I think the one in Goleta is named Upholstery Decor. We've bought foam there many times over the years and found their prices and service to be excellent. Dave the owner has decades of experience and wide knowledge of upholstery and bedding, and freely shared many helpful tips that have improved our results and saved us money.

DItto re 877P's comments about Upholstery Decor :) It's like an old fashioned shop, and office "decor" is not their strongpoint. But it doesn't matter. David learned his trade from his parents who owned the shop, and he's updated himself to our new age re online options. Helpful and reasonable! I want him to stay in business forever because it'd be a hard store to replace.

Call Bob's Canvas downtown on Gutierrez St. We're next door and we used to buy foam from them.

I'm pretty surethat upholstery shop is still there, because I think I've walked past it doing cleanup in Old Town. They did a chair seat for me a few years ago.

I called the number given for Decor on Hollister and received a recorded message, because it's a Saturday.
