Scanner Reports 1-28-13
updated: Jan 28, 2013, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Well Lookie Here; 4th Monday of the Nude Year! Almost February too, that month went fast. I hope everyone is well today and had a wonderful weekend.

Someone made a comment about our City Police Department not broadcasting out on Radio Reference.com being secretive by talking on Nextels instead of over the scanner, "What do they have to hide?" asked the Anonymous commenter. I'm sure a lot and I have no problem with that myself. SNOT everything goes over the Police Scanner into thy ears of the public, and it shouldn't. Police Business is just that Police Business. If the police were required to broadcast everything over the Scanner a public radio, their lives could be in danger. I don't write everything I hear over the Scanner either. The otter day a police officer was staking out someone and not answering his radio the dispatcher sent two units to check on the officer who was in an unmarked vehicle he was OK. There are other calls I don't write up involving police stake outs, drug busts, or other crimes where the criminal is being staked out by police. Most of the time if the police transmit these things over the radio it's in code anyway and you can't tell what the HELL they are saying.

FRYday Afternoon as I was hanging out at the bottom of my driveway I noticed a young street gal walking around the parking lot of the Habit across the street obviously looking for a "John". SNOT the bathroom kind. Her Pimp/Boyfiend was out on the sidewalk on a bicycle watching her. I looked elsewhere for a minute and then back in that direction. She was with him on the sidewalk and now they were both staring at me, Thee old man. I'm sure they heard me when I said "Oh HELL Nooooooooo!" Like 5 times...They were in their 20's I'm sure but I don't do those sorts of things I'm a good Old Man. When I was younger than them I was on the streets of much bigger cities than Santa Barbara and I knew kids that sold themselves for sex to adults. I choose to not sell myself. I was a thief; still I got raped a couple times. Things like that happen on the streets when there is no protection from scum Bags. I really wasn't much of a thief, just enough to get by mostly I was a "Look Out" for other thieves. The only time I felt good about stealing was when we broke a seal on a train and discovered it was filled with PBR Beer, I thought I died and went to heaven. There we were 8 Runaway kids hauling cases of PBR with the Railroad Dicks chasing us through a field and down a road. That was the best tasting beer I have ever drunk!

Anyway back to the young couple they walking around my HOOD for a few moments then split. I haven't seen them since I'm sure they probably ended up downtown or in someone else's HOOD. Beware they looked like real opportunists. I used to take people in all the time when I was drinking I've seen other people do it too. Most of them get used and ripped off. I could see this young couple really pulling a number on someone. Don't take no one in unless you know them well if people want to get off the streets there are places for them to go NEVER TAKE IN SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW.
