At about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday , January 25th, a structure fire was
reported at a craftsman style cottage located in the 1000 block of East
Ortega Street.
As reported by Roger the Scanner Guy, a full fire response was initiated
in an effort to keep the blaze from spreading.
Santa Barbara Fire Department responded and found smoke coming
from the residence. Firefighters immediately initiated a search of the
home and found it to be unoccupied. They quickly located a fire burning
inside a bathroom, which may have been caused by an unattended
candle or incense.
A quick and aggressive response by firefighters kept the fire from
spreading to other areas of the home, however the bathroom did suffer
significant fire damage. The rest of the house suffered smoke and water
damage. Luckily there were no injuries as a result of this fire.
In all, three SBFD Engines, 1 SBFD truck and a Battalion Chief
responded to this blaze.
