would like some for my own yard and would like to ask for it by name at my local garden center. Thanks

May I ask? Can anyone tell me why all but one of my plants bloom's and it doesn't? It is in the same location and receives the same amount of water and nutrients.

I have them growing in the shade in my yard (Total Shade). I would like to add that they bloom early for a very short period of time but remain healthy looking all year and they can be moved often and easily.

My experience with Clivia indicates VERY little water needed, thought they won't complain if you give them a drink. They're actually a recommended species for planting under Oaks, which should NOT be watered at all. There is a beautiful yellow variety; 'San Marcos Yellow', which is every bit as sturdy as the much more common orange.

I have about 6 plants along the side of my house in complete shade. Once established they don't need much water. But they only flower once a year, fairly early in the year, before other flowers are out. Stay pretty and dark green all the time, though. Have fun

The pictured plant is one of the Belgian hybrids or other named varieties such as 'Flame'. The common form is paler orange and flowers more freely. There are also exquisite yellow varieties. Used to be Kaffir lily, not PC now.

Clivia requires supplemental watering. It's not a desert plant.

There is a planting of this amaryllid about 20' by 100 feet at Lotusland. Really beautiful in bloom.

Yes, clivia and once in awhile one can find white blossomed ones. White ones are rare.

It's called a Clivia Miniata, or Natal Lily/Bush Lily. I have two on my patio. Really pretty and hearty.

Clivia Aren't they great? Love the dark orange ones. I got one that someone had tossed to the curb with a "free" sign. :)
