January 22, 2013 - Earth, Wind and a Ton of Fires
What an eventful Monday we all had. In true Santa Barbara fashion the ending of a three-day weekend started with one fire and ended with three. First
there was a vegetation fire on Butterfly Beach near the Biltmore. Many Edhat
subscribers were there to witness the short-lived flame and even the arrest of a suspected transient.
The second fire of the day was reported by Roger the Scanner Guy and started at the Ellwood Bluffs. A cigarette smoker is the possible suspect, but the firefighters were able to quickly extinguish this little grass fire.
The grand finale of fires crept towards TV Hill and started off of Loma Alta Drive
early Monday evening. The smoke and flames could be seen from all over Santa Barbara. Evacuation orders were called in as homes were threatened by this
growing blaze, but luckily they were withdrawn as firefighters mopped up the scene. Click
here to read the Urban Hiker's report.
In the news: A vegetation fire broke out at Butterfly Beach and was swiftly extinguished, the CHP wants people to be on lookout for a White Hyundai
Tucson, and Edhatters express their opinions on the new fountain at Paseo Nuevo. Read these stories and more, below.
