What about the rumors that he was droped off by others in another vehicle on the side of the highway in the first place?

Get away with what? It's hardly a punishable offense when you hit someone walking in freeway lanes, where a person isn't supposed to be. For there to be a crime, it presupposes the victim was in the right. The only crime committed was fleeing the scene of an accident, which will more than likely be dropped.

046: Why run if it wasn't your fault? And hit & run is still hit & run, regardless of whether the person you hit wasn't where they were supposed to be. Little kid runs out in front of my car & I kill them & drive off, I'm pretty sure I'm a horrid human being & in quite a bit of trouble. But maybe this situation is ok because it's an adult. Remember when the drunk people were crossing near Earl Warren & got hit, then the driver took off & was captured later? Yeah, he got in trouble for that even though the pedestrians were drunk & in the middle of a not well-lit road, away from the crosswalk. (Admittedly, he was house arrest/probation/something, but still. He got in trouble because IT WAS WRONG.)

Remember to notice cars in driveways under car covers that weren't covered previously. My neighbor hit and ran on our street, 2am. Other neighbors came out the next day with all kinds of details "It was so loud I was just sure everyone heard it. the scrapping was so loud...he didn't travel far." Sure enough, less than 50 yards away, under a car cover.
