January 20, 2013 - Doggone Goats
Goats are not the usual pets here in Santa Barbara. Most people choose something soft or cuddly that fits in on State Street and
generates multiple "awws" from onlookers. But a goat as a pet? Not in this zip code. However, a goat as an employed member of the family who earns its
keep? Now you're talking. The Urban Hikers spotted these hungry goats while touring Casa Dorinda. Turns out, these goats are heavily protected by a
mouthy dog who keeps the goats and their visitors in check. We asked the Edhat Dog if she'd like a part-time job corralling some goats, but she just rolled
over and went to sleep. We think that says it all.
In international news, someone spotted Ed, or rather Ed's bag, hanging out in
London's Greenwich Park. Are you curious where to purchase such a fine bag? Wonder no more. Visit Lynn at Santa Barbara Arts in La Arcada on State Street.
Then, send us a photo of your Edhat bag "hanging out" around Santa Barbara or abroad.
Our Dog of the Week is Henry who uses his adorable healing energy as a lovable therapy dog. Our Cat of the Week is Bertha, a cute cuddler who is
available for adoption through ASAP. As seen above, the Urban Hikers share more information about Casa Dorinda and the animals that protect it. David
Powdrell channels his inner zen master like the Carpinteria fishermen. Our Indie Film Guru watches the critically acclaimed French film, Rust and Bones, and
Edhat goes traveling and makes a mark in London.

|
POWDRELL: The mindset of a Carpinteria surf fisherman interests me. I find them
to be part Zen philosophers,
somewhat machismo, usually loners, but consistently lovers of a good fight on the line. |

Edhat gets around. Just this morning Ed was seen hanging around Greenwich Park in London. [pic] |

The Indie Film Guru critiques the French film, Rust and Bone, about two people reeling from
disasters finding their way into the arms of each other. |

|
URBAN HIKE: The Urban Hikers promised
more about Casa Dorinda this week, and while they haven't yet collected all
the info they'd hope to, they did find out more about the grazing goats and their protector. |

|
DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Henry, a lovable therapy dog. |

|
CAT OF THE WEEK: Meet Bertha, the playful kitty looking for a forever
home. Will it be you? |
