Panga Boat Found on Goleta Beach
Homeland Security Investigating
Goleta- At approximately 5:18 morning a county park employee discovered a panga boat on the
shore at Goleta Beach. The abandoned boat which measures about 30 feet had about a dozen life-
jackets and more than 15 containers of fuel on board. There was evidence of food and clothing in the
vessel but no evidence of drugs. No arrests have been made. Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies
responded to the scene and conducted the initial investigation. The case has been turned over to the
Department of Homeland Security.
This is the first panga boat discovered in Santa Barbara County this year and the first found on Goleta
Beach. Last year, there were more than 20 incidents regarding panga boats in Santa Barbara County.
The boat has been turned over to Homeland Security for further investigation. All media inquiries
