I just moved downtown and I'm curious if the Eagles building on Bath St is a private club or an open bar?

Members only look into membership, it's a great organization.

Great location, plenty of parking, pool table, and stiff cheap drinks. It's members only and you need to be sponsored by a member to become a member but when I was there they were eager for new members.

876 & 922, it's time to leave the car in the garage and stretch those legs once in a while! There's a lot to see when you're moving at 2 instead of 30... the slower you go, the more you see. Assuming you can tear your eyes off the iPhone for a while. I've always wanted to stop in this place and see if I could get a beer, but never have... Always imagined the door would swing shut and everyone would stop talking and stare at me while a record skipped over and over in a back room. I think that's what I was hoping would happen and didn't want to find out otherwise.

930 - there's no way everyone would know most everything about most of our neighborhoods. I'm poster 876 and have 14K miles on my five year old car and do not have a smart phone, but Edhat does get "smart" responses sometimes. Happy Hour should be every hour. I walk slower than I wish and try to notice everything,, contributing to Edhat on a regular basis. Let there be kindness.

Is this the pretty building that long ago was an orphanage?

930, I'm going on 28 years here. When I saw "Eagle on Bath," I thought they were talking about the Eagle Inn, on lower Bath street. Maybe you should get out more.

I went to the Eagles for my friend Grover Barnes 100th birthday, about 5 yrs ago (huge party). No, it's not the old St. Vincents Orphange (it's on De la Vina); my great-grandmother was a cook there in the early 1900s.

It's a great place! Membership only. I've been there a couple of times. There was short trend about 5-6 years ago when a lot of young 20-ish aged people were joining. I guess it was hip for a second, but I went in for a friend's birthday. Really cool and nice. Felt like stepping back in time, and that was one of the best things about it! I hope they always stay and never change!

The Eagles joined the SB Pool League for the first time last October, so that means we get to go there every once in a while. Great place. Membership very inexpensive. A lot smaller than the Elks Lodge, but they have none of the goofy religious crap that the Elks like to proselytize.

I like Moose Lodge on Victoria. We're members of the Stockdale Lodge in Bakersfield and enjoy ourselves very much. When in town I try to stop by. Social clubs like these are fun places and handy when you're traveling because you're always welcome.

I've been an Elk for about 6 years now, was an officer for 2 years and my husband has been on the Board of Directors for about 4 years; never had anyone at anytime (other than the investigation prior to membership, which asked all kinds of basic questions) try to steer my religious beliefs.
