More Light

More mysteries at the Point Conception Lighthouse from my recent flight there, are revealed with help from
a link JoJoFlys posted in a comment on my earlier pix. This wide shot looking toward the south shows things in context, with
the keeper's house (closeup here) just visible in shade to the left of the highest point where the original
light was. The closer pic better looking toward the west shows that hilltop where there's apparently a
telecommunications shack now standing on part of the foundation, with the keeper's house on the left and
barracks on the right. The closeup shows a tiny shack that's visible above the cliff at the left edge of the
wide shot, that was maybe an outhouse or something related to beach access? I had thought much of the
construction out there was related to Vandenberg's defense and space work, but maybe nearly all of it is
from various incarnations of the lighthouses, fog horns and bells that have been placed there?

The small building may be a spring house with a fence to keep livestock away from the water source.

I am new to the area and love to hike. I googled the Lighthouse and it said it was on private land. Is there any way to get permission to hike to it?

I doubt you'd get permission. I was lucky enough to be at a barbeque on the ranch and we were invited to walk about a million steps down to the lighthouse. Such a treat!
