I'm in an upcoming wedding and need to look less pale by getting a spray tan. Does anyone recommend a
place that uses an airbrush?

Honey's is the absolute best - Christine has her own blend that does not look fake at all.

I smell popcorn burning in the microwave.... But while we wait, another vote for Honey's. For years I used to make fun of spray tans, however when an event came up that I didn't want to blind people with my pale skin, I went to Honey's and was very pleased. I was terrified of being turned into a Cheeto, but the staff at Honey's custom-blended the color to make it actually look like I had a natural touch of tan. And no, I was not paid for this endorsement.

Honeys...just make sure you prep ahead of time: shave 2 days ahead, exfoliate 1 day ahead, moisturize 1 day ahead...will make all the difference.

Do any of the spas suggested use products that are organic and safe? I like the idea of the nice bronze look, but not with the risks I have heard associated with it. Also how do they prevent you from inhaling that stuff when spraying it?

An organic and safe way to do such an unnatural thing as to paint yourself? An amusing problem that is .

364663 - Tiny minds are allowed to express themselves as well. I must have one myself, as this kind of vanity seems so full of self-interest. We all have our priorities, and getting a fake tan wouldn't be one of mine. I'm far more concerned about our children's future on this planet right now. A tan wouldn't help me address that.

Eh, we all have different priorities and ideas. Personally I wouldn't have a clue where to go to get a spray-on tan, but wouldn't judge anyone who'd want one.

Honeys is the best! You will look naturally sun kissed and not at all like a jersey shore cast member. Do your prep work tho and also wear loose dark clothing for after your appt.

Hoowee. I am amazed at how many commenters know of a place to have this done. In Santa Barbara, one needs to get a fake tan? Compared to most of the country, we are all about 10 shades darker than the average American, thanks to all the sunshine. I agree with EITS. Waste of money and truly shallow. Ugh.

...perhaps the OP must appear in public wearing a revealing wardrobe (ie strapless wedding party dress) and is terribly fair or who has existing tan lines clashing with said attire. If requested by bride to get a tan so as not to make wedding photos look odd, why not be "shallow" for a day? not gonna prevent the end of world hunger. For people who claim to be so laid back, SB's do an awful lot of judging.

I am so fair that i have been tempted to see what it would be like to have legs that don't look like fluorescent strips! Tried self applied tan out of a bottle - legs looked like they'd been streaked with nicotine or rubbed with tobacco leaves - and I DO mean streaked. Finally I just wear pants or tights - when it's so hot that I just don't give a fire truck, well then I blind everyone with my screamingly white pins!

I agree, 746P. For people who claim to be so laid back, Santa Better-Than-Thous do a lot of self-righteous flexing. I have had several (gasp) spray tans over the years for special occasions, and believe it or not, am still able to function as an individual actively involved in social causes.

A lot of these comments aren't referrals. Perhaps Edhat should start a new "Judge" section for those who must share their opinions. My referral- 19 Blue used to offer this, call them and ask.

Bikini Factory in Summerland is the BEST! My daughter who has that Irish white skin got a spray tan there and she looked naturally tan, not overdone, just healthy looking glow.
