Light, War, Well?
updated: Jan 17, 2013, 7:56 AM

By John Wiley

Does anyone on Edhat know if this is remnants of a light, war or well I saw at Point Conception? In my first post from the flight you can see where it is in relation to the 1881 lighthouse. In this view of the rocky point you can see that there's a foundation and two holes, one fenced with planks across it. Looking more closely from off the point you can see that the red area is a pile of bricks near the unfenced hole. In the closest view you can just make out what at full resolution are clearly bricks lining the fenced hole, presumably the source of the brick pile. So maybe that was an earlier brick lighthouse, or a well? Maybe the whole thing is a decommissioned missile silo from the cold war? I wonder if anyone's ever done a history of all the construction remnants out there.
