Butterfly Preserve

A subscriber found that the perfect time to go out is in between rain showers (on a Sunday morning). We
were the only ones there.
Sierra Club leader Dave led us on an annual butterfly hike. We walked through the preserve, through the
Ellwood Mesa and to the beach. We lucked out - little to no rain until we made it back to our cars! The
ground was slippery and a few of did a few sliding tricks. Got us thinking about a mud board (like a
snowboard for mud) and how much fun we could have.
Not a whole lot of butterflies but the few clumps there were were beautiful and perfectly hung for the lazy
photographer.
