Did anyone see the flying circle of lights last night hovering motionless over downtown?
It was actually a camera rig shooting a scene for this year's opening animation for the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

It was big and yellow - flew right over my head ! Suddenly the ground shook and there was a very bright intense light. That's all I remember,.. other than my bottom hurts.

Radio-controlled copters with mutliple electric motors & propellors that can haul cameras are pretty common these days. Google on "quadcopter" for examples of many sizes.
