Hawk Eye

Went out this morning to see if I could find the elusive Grey Hawk and I was successful! When I first
drove up, he was first perched on the mileage sign and I got a few good shots and was going to go
closer when someone pulled out of a driveway in front of another car and they honked and he flew off.
At first I didn't think this was the Grey Hawk as the pictures I had found online were quite different. But
another couple, The Thorntons, drove up and confirmed it was indeed the Grey Hawk, a juvenile. We
found him in a taller tree above the yard on Santa Claus Lane. He flew off again and I then found him in
a tree on the ocean side and I was able to get pretty close to him. He sat for quite awhile in the taller
tree with his leg up the entire time?
Apparently this is the first sighting of this type of bird in California so I'm glad I was able to get a few
good shots of him. I believe the hawk has been in the area now for several weeks and seems to be quite
happy!
One picture shown with his eye closed!
