I'm looking for suggestions of late night cafes or restaurants that remain open after 10 pm. Something
after a concert or the theater that offers any kind of menu, even if it's just dessert or a drink. I'm looking
for someplace nice to take our visiting Italian relatives. Of course it's not problem for them as Italy has
huge offerings at that time of night, lucky them! Any thoughts? Thanks!

Roy (7 West Carrillo) is perfect for what you require. Serving dinner until midnight, excellent food, intriguing atmosphere.

Blue Owl Cafe on Canon Perdido near State. They have a great small menu, but I don't think they serve alcohol. And I really like Blush. You may want to check out the Restaurant Guy's website, too.

Chuck's of Hawaii on Upper State. They are open until 11pm on weekdays, and 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday. I think they have a late night drink Happy Hour as well.

Chucks has good food and better service -- friendly and warm. Chase is highly overrated -- personally i would not waste my time or recommend Chase. I enjoy arts and letters interesting menu.

While I enjoy Chase occasionally, I don't think I'd want my authentic Italian relatives to have to mentally compare the local food to what they're used to back in the home country. Maybe when Tony Caliguri was alive and cooking himself, but not now...

Where is Kerry's now that we need it? Alas, gone the way of the State Theater and the Granada when it showed movies. No more Jolly Tiger, either. Sigh.

No need to get in a tizzy about the Chase.... the OP is looking for a drink and an appetizer and they can handle that comfortably. As for authenticity... Italians love their cupids and cherubs so the folks can feel right at home here, even though the food's not the best in town.

Arts & Letters is a lunch place, except for special dining events. They are open from 11 am to 2:30 p.m. Not a late night spot!

If you don't mind going up State a little bit, you can hit Edomasa for some really really good Japanese food. It's on the corner of DeLa Vina and Alamar.

At 10pm the Greek House on Haley Street becomes Mac & Cheese, Waffles and fries. This is the kind of stuff that really, really fills you. Mac & Cheese is really gooy. A fun place if your'e out on State and want some street food.

I think someone else put Roy's but its actually called Roy on Carrillo right next to state. Dark, quiet, intimate. About 10 choices on the menu, all cost the same. Full bar. Of course, Joe's Cafe is my favorite place in town. A bit more lively at all hours of the day/night. Bon appetit!
