Jameson Lane Structure Fire

At about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2nd, a structure fire was
reported at a condominium near the intersection of North Jameson Lane
and Sheffield Drive in Montecito.
As reported by Roger the Scanner Guy, a full fire response was initiated
in an effort to keep the blaze from spreading. First on scene was the
Montecito Fire Department, Engine 91, which found a fire inside the first-
story wall. By the time firefighters arrived on scene flames had extended
up to the floor of the second-story, of the condominum unit.
At the time the fire broke out there was a plumber working in the unit
making repairs. He reportedly attempted to put out the flames, burning
his arms in the process. He also reportedly suffered from smoke
inhalation. The plumber's injuries were treated at the scene.
A quick and aggressive response by firefighters kept the fire from
spreading to other areas of the condo itself and to other units within the
condominium complex.
At the time of the fire smoke was also observed emanating from the
adjacent condo unit, which led firefighters to investigate further. Upon
investigation they found that condo to be unoccupied, however the
resident had left food cooking atop the stove. As it turns out, the cause of
the smoke from that unit was the burning food.
Aside from Montecito Fire, several fire crews responded from Santa
Barbara City, Santa Barbara County and Summerland/Carpinteria. The
California Highway Patrol was on scene to provide traffic control.
