December 29, 2012 - Wet Weather

Today's weather does not look pretty. The forecast is predicting rain, cloudiness, wind, maybe light snow, and possible grumpiness. Not everyone likes this type of weather and as Santa Barbarians we aren't too accustomed to the cold. Did you ever notice whenever the topic of weather arises, there's one person who says, "well I grew up in 'Nebohwyota' and this weather is nothing compared to the midwest!" This may be true, but luckily we chose a decent climate to live in.

Given that today is considerably gross outside, it's a nice day to stay in and read up on some local news. We have a strong Sunday Edhat lineup to keep you occupied for hours, depending on how fast you read.

Our Dog of the Week is Rufus Aloysius, quite possibly the most prestigiously named dog we've seen. Our Cat of the Week is Miss Piggy, a cat who clearly does not like holidays or her human's sense of humor. Our Non-profit of the Week is Project: Flight Rescue who help the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department fund and maintain helicopters. Dedicated Staff member Lauren eats her way through some new Santa Barbara restaurants and the Urban Hikers explore a segment of Montecito called Pepper Hill. David Powdrell took a stroll just after the rain, Marc Liberts focuses on Central California wines, a subscriber sent in an El Paseo menu from 1948, and subscribers show off a variety of snow, cloud and storm photos.

---- Edhat Stuff ----------------------------------

WINE: Marc Liberts took a visit to Central California Wines tasting room in Santa Ynez.

URBAN HIKE: The Urban Hikers know the neighborhood in Montecito referred to as Pepper Hill isn't a Dr., it isn't a sergeant and it isn't even a street. It's just a hill that was once a magnificent estate.

Lauren: ‘Tis the season eat more than our stomachs can handle and Lauren takes this challenge by reviewing new restaurants in Santa Barbara.

NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK: Project: Rescue Flight has been in existence since 2000 and was formed to help the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department with funding and maintaining helicopters.

DOG OF THE WEEK: Meet Rufus Aloysius, the dog with a fancy name who lives life in a full-tilt boogie.

CAT OF THE WEEK: Meet Miss Piggy, a cat who says "bah humbug" during the holidays.
