After church this a.m., I talked my husband into taking me out for breakfast. We got a little lost on our way home to Hope Ranch Annex and ended up at Hendry's dog beach We took a walk on the leash-free side and both commented on how pleasant this was and how we should do it more often.
As we walked, we saw a big black dog, covered w/ a plaid shirt and a very cold looking young lady next to him. In my naivety, I thought he was just tired and taking a rest.
On the way back, there was a small crowd gathering and when I inquired passers by about it, they said it had fallen off the cliff from the Wilcox property, had broken it's back and "passed".
I felt so bad for all involved, especially the dog, but wanted to pass on blessings to the lady that was apparently comforting him with the shirt off of her back, and the passers by who told us they were going to get the ranger to remove the dog.
My thoughts and prayers are w/ his family as well, we are comforted to know that he probably did not suffer.
