A hit and run caused a fire hydrant to spew water all over the place on the 3800 block of State in the La Cumbre Plaza.

SECOND hit and run on that same hydrant in the past month... WTF is going on with all the hit and runs in town lately? I will chase down anyone who I see runs after hitting someone!

Lol, thinking that is really weird and that the hydrant should be moved or have a STEEL fence around it.

Lots of water on a high voltage? Thangy now they got to notify Edison too.. Lots of hit and runs chase them down but don't let them know your hunting for them. call 911 on your cell phone some of these jokers carry guns.

Maybe city works should wake up and put some barriers around this hydrant with how often it is hit.

John Palminteri posted pictures on my FaceBook page... Maybe, I can post a link for that. Actually, it was posted by Kathleen Barnato and she tagged John Palminteri ... http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10151294064529259&set=at.10150223106129259.336144.509309258.760889846&type=1&theater

Maybe for ONCE the old joke about a hydrant/tree/other fixed object jumping out into the road in front of a car really IS true. This is just too bizarre. How long has that hydrant been there and nobody has hit it. But twice in a couple of months?

Again? Is La Cumbre Plaza saving $$ by reducing lighting in the parking lot, or are there more old folks around with impaired night vision. Barricade that hydrant NOW!

For 50 years the hydrant has been there. And now, within a month it has been sheared off twice by hit and run drivers. Interesting commentary on the modern driver.

Anyone want to place a bet as to when the thrid strike will occur. Things like this tend to happen in threes, according to my grandmother from the old country.

I wonder if the mounting bolts were recently changed out with drilled bolts. These bolts are meant to hold the hydrant in place but shear off off it is struck by a vehicle. The point is not to damage the pipe and flange in the ground, so repair is fast and the hydrant is not out of service for long. It may be that this hydrant has been hit before, but was more solidly affixed than it is now.

Hydrant systems a designed to sheer off without damaging underground piping like you thought 888. Great show called " how it's made " had a segment on hydrants. If you are familiar with where the hydrant is, there is no reasonable cause for a car to smash into it. These past two people area idiots, that's it. And cage the hydrant? So then there will be a smashed cage to try and remove next time? Or so protected that the fire department can't access it easily? Poles right in front will probably be installed, so next car will get crushed befor the hydrant gets touched. Still, these people are idiots, for hitting it, and running after
