Friday night was the Solstice Winter White Ball!
Plenty of creative costumes, good music and people dancing! All for a good cause, to raise money for the
Santa Barbara Summer Solstice celebration!

Looks like everyone was having fun, thanks. Solstice is the real reason we have Christmas. The pagans were having so much fun, the pope decided to make it Christ's birthday (over 300 yrs after he died) to get more converts.

Thank you for the kind words about my close up strategy! The hat was sewn by Solstice costume and construction wizard Christine for my Solstice costume several years ago. When I took Latin many years ago we learned about the Saturnalia festivities of this season. As I understand it, the Christmas in December was invented to compete with Saturnalia.
