Mammoth Lakes

By the Urban Hikers
On Wednesday afternoon one of our family members flew over the Mammoth Lakes area while returning to
Santa Ynez Airport from Sun Valley, Idaho. When he snapped a photo with his iPhone he was unaware of
the missing local pilot or of the search efforts that were underway at the time. He did notice that parts of
the area were closed to air traffic, but did not know the reason for the restriction.
We extend our appreciation to the members of the Search and Rescue teams and the others who are
helping locate Mr. Wilson. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and his friends.

Should have gone to Mammoth, it's been epic. Ton more snow and far better terrain than Sun Valley, closer too!

Mmm, I get to spend the whole month of January there. Thanks for the great photo of one of my favorite runs: St. Anton behind chair 3

This pic shows the difficulty for Search & Rescue & the rough terrain for a survivor.

The flight restriction is over a five-mile radius from here on gMaps. Hope they find Mr. Wilson got down ok and has sheltered someplace warm up there.
