It would be cool if they would station these guys on campus. I would like to see a cop at every school spreading the good word. Truth, justice and the American way.

Not enough cops, and what do we want a police state? Teachers need to wake up, tell the Sheriff that he is violating law abiding citizens' rights to be issued a concealed carry permit, since the open carry ban was passed, and force him to allow "self defense" as good cause. Then the teachers need to apply, learn how to use a handgun safely, and get a CCW! When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

The idea that everyone carrying a concealed weapon will solve these problems is perhaps the most retarded idea in the history of mankind.

Hey 090 - who was 979 referring to then? If we arm only the teachers, then who will defend us at church? If we arm only the preachers, then who will defend us at the Post Office? If we arm only the postal workers, who will defend us at the malls? If we arm everyone.......... and so forth.

Yesterday teachers were union thugs.... now you want to arm them. Putting more guns out on the street just makes the likelihood of being shot higher. Road rage, drunk bar patron, jilted lover, stressed-out school worker, fired employee.... I'm not against ccw's or gun ownership but only when sane laws are in place and enforced. No secondary sales, no internet sales and no high-capacity magazines.

174-There are more than enough gun laws, especially in this State. The problem is IRRESPONSIBLE gun owners allowing nuts like we have seen recently get a hold of them. And by the way, California doesn't allow secondary sales unless through a dealer, doesn't allow internet sales of firearms unless through a dealer, and doesn't allow "high" capacity magazines, so what are you talking about? And for anyone out there using the term "automatic" rifle, you are ignorant about firearms. M-4s, or the civilian version, the AR-15, are SEMI-automatic, just like millions of everyday hunting rifles and shotguns(which are much more powerful than a .223 round from an AR. One press of the trigger, one round fired.

I would rather see teachers trained to use tazers, than guns. Having students watch their teacher gun someone down is not really a good solution, nor is expecting that teachers are able or willing to shoot someone a viable option. Tazers would definately immobilize the danger, and not cause excessive undo trauma. However, the real issue is providing the services necessary for kids in need before they become dangerous. Unfortunately, our system is not set up for everyone to have free mental health care, but until it is available and

Additionally, parents and visitors must be willing to be inconvenienced (like at the airport) for additional security measures to work in school. Often, parents/visitors simply go around the office to avoid a couple minute delay, and feel entitled to go around the rules, to expedite their day.

I am not sure a taser would be all that effective at times. I would like to see one armed guard at the school and the teachers perhaps with tasers. Certainly the entrance and exit policy to the schools needs to be revisited.
