Meth Dealer Arrested

Over the course of a month-long drug investigation Santa Barbara Police Department detectives received information that Santa Barbara area gang member Alejandro Mendibles Jr., age 44, was involved in the sale of methamphetamine. Narcotics detectives obtained a search warrant for Mendibles's apartment on the 400 block of Rancheria Street and his vehicles. On December 7, 2012 at 12:45 p.m., Mendibles was contacted after he parked one of his cars in the Paseo Nuevo Mall parking lot. Mendibles was driving on a suspended driver's license and he was arrested for that offense. The detectives then executed the search warrant and found nearly ¼ pound of methamphetamine, packaged in various quantities for sale, in Mendibles's other vehicle which was parked at his apartment complex on Rancheria Street. The methamphetamine has a value of approximately $3,500.00 to $4,000.00. $2,187.00 in cash that Mendibles had in his possession was seized as proceeds from drug sales.

Mendibles was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for possession of methamphetamine for sale and driving on a suspended license with a bail amount of $30,000.00.
