Went to see this over the weekend with the kids. Enchanting as last year's Gingerbread house was. We so appreciate the owner's generousity to the city. However, we were troubled to see openly displayed Playboy magazines through window. Hey, if you are doing something that entertains kids and families at least have the courtesy to hide your pornography.

300: "Openly displayed"? Do you mean the magazines were open and you could see the photos inside? Or do you just mean that they had magazines sitting out where you could see them? "Playboy" covers are NOT pornographic, and usually show about the same amount of skin as a "Cosmopolitan" cover, which are "openly displayed" at supermarket checkstands all over the country. I hope you don't let your kids go to the market!

Fantastic, this year and all the others! I stopped and met Henry (the owner), the night he and another man were installing the display. He told me about the duckie in the display - one day while driving along the 101 in Oxnard he stopped and picked it up along the roadside. He had driven past it several times before, and on that day day he asked his wife to pull over so he could jump out and "rescue" it. He cleaned it up and put it on the roof with the polar bear and others...Reuse, reduce recycle! Thanks Henry.

I wouldn't want my kids to see Playboy OR Cosmo covers. With that being said, I've lost a lot of respect for this business. Either that or I'm jealous my stylist doesn't provide me with "Playgirl" but I'm not sure which yet...

Only in Santa Barbara does a person look for over-the-top political correctness. MOBS is my barbershop and I KNOW that the magazines (not all Playboys) are stacked NEAR the window. WHY would you let your kids act like voyeurs and look inside the windows---to see WHAT? The REAL scene is the TOP OF THE BUILDING---not the inside of the shop. Get "real" folks-----and stop being nitpickers.

Wait, did you seriously just complain about parents letting kids look in storefront windows? Only on Edhat...

648: You better not let your kids out of the house at all. In fact, perhaps you should wrap them in bubble wrap and store them in a closet until they're grown up. The world is full of dangers. Oh noes!!!!
