Parade of Lights
updated: Dec 10, 2012, 9:14 AM
By Betsy Cramer
The Waterfront Department-sponsored 27th Annual Parade of Lights attracted a large fleet of brightly-
decorated yachts, powerboats, SUPs and kayaks, culminating with the Channel Cat who this year had a
small boat tail. It was a beautiful windless night with a fine fireworks show. Kudos to all the participants!
Apologies for the quality of these photos: as usual, the reality was better.

Great photos, thank you for sharing. Being able to shoot moving subjects in low light conditions and keeping everything in focus takes a fair amount of technical skill which you clearly possess. This is a good substitute to actually being there. Well done.

Thank you for these comments, Stace, Dan and fellow random numbered anonymice. It's odd: I would have gone to the Parade anyway, since I am on the harbor commission, but I probably would not have brought my camera. Last evening, I thought several times of Peter Sklar and Edhat and so snapped away (hand held and, indeed, low light!), came home and selected pictures, hoping they would please. It's been my pleasure to share, whether these or those of the chicken and her chicks last week or quite a few others. The act of sharing has probably meant more to me than the receiving has to the viewers, and so appreciative of Peter's sharing edhat, I was devastated to read this morning's news.... 328: being there on that so local event, on the quite warm, windless night was lovely. I am pleased the pictures are a good substitute, but I do often think that the representation of reality does not do fair justice to the reality. It's nice to be wrong. :) -Betsy

Betsey your images over the years were so inspiring that I felt the desire to contribute to Edhat following your lead. Sharing with the community is what Peter Sklar was all about. I am still trying to process yesterday's sad news as I was also unaware that Peter was so ill. You are a skilled photographer at night as well as the flowers you've shared by day!
