I wanted to say thanks to my awesome mail carrier in San Roque, and
the postal service for picking up food drive donations saturday. I almost
forgot to put a package together, but it came up in conversation with the
carrier, and I made a special trip to the store for healthy non-
perishable to donate.
I complain about the postal service a lot, but my carrier is a wonderful
person, and the food drive gave me a chance to share with those less
fortunate. So, thanks to the carriers and local post office for the extra
effort to collect groceries for those in need.

This is the first year I've forgotten to put out items for this annual food drive :-( I think it's a wonderful use of a governmental bureaucracy, and if the USPS is still around next year, goodies will be waiting on the mailbox.

Cash donations to a local food bank go much farther than actual goods, but the food drive is a good vehicle for community recognition. Food Bank is a great organization, and of course Salvation Army will gladly take a donation and will use it within your community all year long. http://feedingamerica.org/foodbank-results.aspx?zip=93444

I forgot, too! Check to the Food Bank will go in the mail tomorrow. That's where all our Christmas present spending is going this year. I don't think anyone minds not getting a gift. But I want to ditto the OP's comments about postal carriers. Ours is such a nice guy, goes out of his way to be helpful, and always has a smile for you. Might gripe about the lines at the Post Office, but not about the carriers.

Please thank them in person, as I'm sure they would appreciate it during this super busy period of heavy traffic.

Food and checks can also go to the Unity Shoppe.
