Scanner Reports 12-7-12
updated: Dec 07, 2012, 7:00 AM

FRYday,FRYday,FRYday, Thank Dog it's FRYday! There is one mean rotten cold going around Folks avoid it if you can, I have it and it's no cup of pee! I've been noticing for a while now how much many people complain about the use of taxpayers monies there doesn't seem to be as many comments on the Drunks being rescued by the Emergency responders as much as say a Hiker up in the hills. It makes me wonder if the Code 40 Drunks have become part of Santa Barbara's crop. There is tourism, Wine, great restaurants and foods and now Drunken Bums. This is what our Beautiful American Rivera is noted for. Drunken Bums do not just include homeless types many are housed one does not have to be houseless to be a drunken bum. I was a drunken bum for many beers, now I yam just a bum. I'm a coffee drinking bum. Anyway as fart as the Drunks go someone usually calls the police on them police show up and determine weather or SNOT they can walk if they can't code 2 medics are called. The drunk is loaded into the ambulance and taken to Cottage Hospital where they are watched for a few hours before being transported to either County Jail, or the Sober Center. I don't know if any are released from the hospital, anyway this costs taxpayers a lot of moola, as far as the Ambulance ride goes. I'm curious how people feel about this?

There was some Gang Type Activity on the East Side on Wednesday Evening several subjects cruising around in an older White Honda 80's or 90's vandalized a 2006 Nissan by smashing out all of the windows in the 1000 Block of Indio Muerto. There was a report of a 415 Fight on South Salinas at the Fair Way Market when police got there they were unable to locate. Checking several areas of the East Side I think police came in contact with and detained someone on Soledad Street. I got my directions mixed up and thought 1000 Indio Muerto was right around the corner from me, but it's actually across the freeway. Really sucks to have all the windows knocked out of your car I hope they got good car insurance. Concerning this vandalism I heard a police officer say it was a Gang Incident.

Been chilly out nights heard a body found in a parking lot 500 Block of North Quarantina on Wednesday Morning. Heard one was found in a parking lot on East Main in Santa Maria on Thursday morning. After a rain like the one we had recently the ground gets soaked in when slept on that bone chill enters the body lying there and steals it's breath during the night. I have heard of many a person die this way over the years perhaps its hypothermia settling in with preexisting medical conditions. Many people who are outside drink and think that the alcohol will keep them warm, that may work for some people who are younger or not ill but not older people, or those that are ill with no protection from the exposure of the cold, not so. If you want to help the homeless it's totally up to you Socks, Blankets, Rain Ponchos, warm jackets go a lot further than money and booze. Just a suggestion. Every year I have to get warm things for me and Mr. Pooh. Blankets and heaters and fury cat beds for Pooh Head I found this cloth bag on Amazon with phony lamb's wool inside Pooh Head loves it. I hate it when someone asks me for a blanket and I cannot give one up because I need it to stay warm. Especially now while I am ill I can feel that bitter cold air now even in the middle of the day. Many homeless use card board to sleep on. I'm sure it protects them from the cold hard ground. I hear many people are ill from what's going around I hear a lot of ill calls going out as well as difficulty breathing if I didn't have breathing medicine I'd probably have to go to the hospital. Stay Well, Stay Warm.

Alcohol is a central nervous system DEPRESSANT.
Alcohol intoxication at the level these alcoholics and bums are often under is THE WORST THING in cold weather. A person who goes to sleep (or passes out) in very cold weather while intoxicated has a much higher likelihood of expiring in their sleep than another person sleeping in the exact same circumstances that is not drunk or under the influence. Adding depressant drugs to this dangerous mix just makes this scenario even worse.
