Foggy Slough

Very foggy today, as it has been for several days. Today, though, I had my camera with me when I went to
Goleta Beach. Unfortunately, my departure from home was delayed, and the fog was beginning to clear
when I got there, so the forbidding photos I wished to take weren't available anymore. I try not to let
things like the defeat me, so I found other things to shoot. Pictures are below.
There was a dead something lying on the beach, across the Slough inlet. Most of its distinguishing
features are missing, but I think it's probably a sea lion or seal. Been there a few days now. The expected
vultures were there too, but they had either already eaten something else, or the carcass on the beach no
longer offered any delicacies they were interested in. They just stayed in their tree, spreading their wings
like cormorants in the sunshine.

I like the second shot in particular, the life guard shack emphasizes the emptiness and bleakness of the beach scene.
