So Michael Hardy gets 8 years for slashing someone's throat from ear to ear and this guy gets 29 years when nobody got hurt? Did I miss something here?

Good point 034. I bet its because he hurt a cop a little bit. If you touch a cop you get the book thrown at you. They are the biggest gang around and very criminal.

Now ya see, had these two not spent their youth smoking weed and not doing school work, they might have graduated and been able to go on to college and/or got a decent job. But instead, the led miserable lives and made poor decisions at every turn. Weed, it's for losers.

This is an outrageously long sentence for this crime. Not saying I like what these guys did, but a couple of years--during which some therapy and antidepressants are distributed--seems more than adequate. In fact, people like this should have antidepressant meds be part of their parole. They wouldn't be so pissed off all the time.

Seeing what people are getting for crimes they commit something doesn't ad up????? Last week they let that guy go after killing 4 people and he only was in jail 10 years. He should have been they one sentence to life for killing 4 people .Something is really wrong here.?? Talk albout screwed up system.

056, IMHO, they got what they deserved. Attempted murder, even if no one was hurt, is a serious crime in and of itself. Add in assault on a police officer and they were asking to get serious prison terms like this.

I'm sorry 056, but 29 years for attempted murder hardly seems like a cruel punishment. Anti-depressants and therapy is not the answer to a drunken pre-meditated shooting spree. We need safety in our town, and if we have 2 less people running around doing shootings like this, then our community has gained extreme value and security. Also, for those who are unaware of why this man got so many years in prison, he was on his third strike, which brings a capital punishment enhancement. His brother was NOT on 3 strikes, and he only got 15 year with time he has already served, deducted from that sentence.

Raj Gupta got all of 2 years for multiple counts of insider trading and effectively stole $100 million, this guy gets 29? I bet Mr. Gupta's actions affected and hurt more people than these two idiots ever did. Sorry, but I think that sentence is a bit of a joke.

They deserve what they got, but I don't thi k they smoked pot, because people who smoke pot would have never of done what they did. They were most likly doing something like meth.

What's the statistics on when crime occurs? Anyone out after midnight is either looking for trouble or too loaded to care.

All caused by weed? I didn't see the word mentioned in the article. More likely drunk or, as mentioned, on Meth. Shooting at people with a shotgun deserves the just punishment, especially on a 3rd strike. Guy wasn't going to change.

I would say the time came from likely gang affiliation (and or prior record of violent behavior) and injuring an officer. Plus there is the attempted murder..all of which depending on the judge and the DA could be a lot of time. Plus they pleaded so they got what the DA offered them, likely with the help of a public defender. Others who get less time usually don't have a criminal history and usually have a nice expensive lawyer. Money talks...

Are we seeing a correlation between violent crimes and neck tatoos?
