Body Found on Isla Vista Beach

This evening, the male body found on the beach in the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive this morning was identified as 21 year old David Propp, a UCSB Student, living in Isla Vista. Notification to his family has been made. The investigation that commenced this morning has led investigators to believe that Propp was a victim of a fall.

Isla Vista-- This morning at 8:42 A.M. the Emergency Communications Center received an Emergency Call of a Subject Down on the Beach below the 6500 block of Del Playa Road. Isla Vista Foot Patrol Station Personnel along with County Fire responded. Isla Vista Foot Patrol Personnel located the subject on the beach and determined that the subject was deceased. The subject is described as a white college aged male adult who had sustained facial/head injuries that are consistent with a fall. The decedent is further described as being in his mid-20's, having short shaggy brown curly hair, clean shaven, brown eyes, 5'10" tall, weighing 190 pounds and having no scars or tattoos.

Currently, Criminal Investigations Personnel from our Coroner's Bureau, Forensics Bureau and Detectives are working diligently to identify the decedent as this is our first priority. If the public believes that they may know the identity of this subject, or perhaps they are missing someone that fits the above description, they are encouraged to please call the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division at 805-683-2724.

Engine 17 is on scene of a man down on the beach off of the 6500 Block of Del Playa. (11/10/12)
