My friend drove by while taking her boy to school. Said there were a ton of cops with guns drawn on a male subject holding a towel to his neck.

There is a man holding a knife to his throat. There are at least 30 Police, CHP, and others. Does it really take that many law enforcement folks? Wow, Can he pay back the restitution for all this expense?

Another example of how marvelous Edhat is. . . This incident was taking place in MY 'hood. Prior to embarking on my morning routine I checked Edhat and learned about what was going on. Otherwise I would never have understood the gravity of the situation upon seeing the law enforcement vehicles. Thanks to Roger and to Edhat.

254... why the frock can't emergency responders respond and do their salaried jobs, keeping us safe, dealing with incidents, rescuing those that need rescuing without some malcontent commenting on "who's going to pay for it"??? We ALL pay for it (some of us more than others, true)... but I'm GLAD to. Thanks to our firefighters, police, etc. (and EVEN helicopters!!!) for doing what you do. I'm happy to pay my share for our community's well-being even if the victim/ill-prepared hiker/mentally challenged/temporarily insane cannot. xo

@254... I'm the parent of one of those kids in the school around the corner. When a subject is clearly not in his right mind and there is belief he may have immediate physical access to firearms, YOU BET many responders are on-scene. I'm thankful for it, this man's troubled life was saved by it in one way or another, and believe me, you'd be thankful for a slew of protectors should something occur on your doorstep in the future. They do a darned good job.
