It was unusually cold last night. Do any Edhatters know what the low was in their
area?

Well. I live at the top of Olive St., and it seemed same as ever to me, temp-wise. I sleep with my window open, two feet from my face. When it gets cold, it wakes me up and my shoulder is like ice. Didn't happen last night. And my room was nice and warm in the morning, too.

I'm pondering when I'm going to have to light up the pilot light. Coming soon, along with a big balloon in propane bills.

it wasn't cold for a late October night. Wait until December to monitor your outdoor thermometers and catch the frosted dew on the grass.

I noticed that in the early morning and added a blanket over my old, thin, down comforter. Made all the difference.

This time of year it is common to have a warm inversion layer from the interior pushed by high pressure in the interior vying with a lower colder layer, often foggy, intruding from the low pressure off shore and air rising from the colder ocean water (Pacific Current coming down from Alaska) If you are outside in or near the foothills you can encounter warm dry air only yards from cold damp air with a temperature difference of 15 to 30 degrees and the edge shifting constantly across a fairly wide front.

I have a orchard thermometer in my field in Buellton. It stopped at 35 degrees F for last night.
