updated: Oct 28, 2012, 1:11 PM

Has anyone heard about the water being shut off this coming Tuesday, October 30?? I heard an announcement at a public gathering but can't find anything about it on the web.

Water being shut off? Where? There are many shut off valves on water lines. You can't shut off an entire city.

If you heard an announcement what details did they give?

Do you live in the city or county? Do you know the street name? Tomorrow, Monday, call the customer number on your utility bill after 8 or 9 a.m., or look up the Water Department in City Gov't. pages of phone book, or Google it, or ask your neighbors, or look for signs and mailings. In San Roque last week they sent out yellow cardboard fliers stating that water system work would be done and that specific neighborhoods would be given 72 hours notice. I believe that's 3 days. I doubt they work on weekends, so find out tomorrow, and fill or buy some bottles of water. Got a friend at whose house you can shower? Relax? Or a gym? It will be fine.

Did you figure it out or are ya funning and fooling with us? :-) I think you're now well-armed with info, OP. Update your neighbors -- and us. What neighborhood are you in? I think my parents got a flier; they (the parents) are hard to understand. I didn't find anything on the SB City water dept. or public works dept. page.

The water being turned off is the water from Cachuma Lake to Goleta Water's Treatment Plant. Close to 30 - 50 million gallons of water for a 24 hour period. All the water agencies in the area will compensate for this short term shutdown. Most people won't even feel the affect.

Wait 'till the earthquake turns off the Cachuma/state water tap. Save water, shower with a friend.

If you go to a public gathering where you hear something of interest to the general community, that's the place to get the details about it and then share them here, rather than coming here to try to get the details about what you heard somewhere else. Or as Jewish tradition says, be an etrog rather than a willow.
