Workers Comp
updated: Oct 27, 2012, 4:24 PM

Does anyone have personal experience with a work comp injury and know if it's better to hire an atty. or battle on your own? I've been battling on my own, but getting tired of it.... Does it make a difference in the final settlement amount?

Get a good WC attorney and let him/her deal with it. There are plenty out there. Listen to what your atty says and do what they tell you to do.

WC attorney compensation is set by state law, and IMO it's rather low so it's a bargain, unlike personal injury attys who get 40% of the settlement as well as reimbursing themselves from the settlement for all of their litigation costs.

Yes. I was well taken care of. The process was handled by insurance paid by my employer. No need for an attorney.

Yes and you should get an attorney ASAP. They don't make anything until it is over and it is a much lower % than personal injury attorneys. It will make a world of difference with how you are treated if you have an attorney. Look in the phone book and then google to see what people say about them. I used the office of Kathleen Stout many years ago but I am sure that any established local attorney will do fine, just make sure they have been around for a bit.

-6252 here. I had a good experience with Walter Larsen. He was highly recommended at the time, and I would not hesitate to recommend him now.

I went through it for years without an attorney. Big mistake.

I worked for a medical clinic at their WC coordinator. Please think long and hard about settling your claim completely. No amount of money of going to be worth it if you settle without future medical. Be aware another insurance may not cover the work comp. inj.
