Polarizing

Here's a polarized view of Santa Barbara, to follow up on my offering yesterday. I had the good luck to fly
again, and it was still relatively clear due to the wind. This time I put a Hoya MC PL-C polarized filter on the
camera, just to see what the difference would be. Of course, it's two different days with slightly different
amounts of haze. Also slightly different times of day and slightly different angles on our town. Plus, I only
took the time to quickly rotate the filter for best contrast. Given all that, I was curious what the difference
would be. I've talked with several professional photographers about polarized filters, and it seems to be a
polarized conversation because they're either for or against. I'm still ambivalent, but I do like today's pic of
this particular view better. As a contrast, here's another similar (not polarized) pic taken on 10/19 when
there was much more haze and even some low cloud over town. In case you're interested in a more
detailed comparison I've put larger versions of today's and yesterday's pix on my Photo Page
