Finally it's starting to feel like fall weather. What do Edhatters love most about Fall in Santa Barbara?

Everything! The cooler weather, light rain, scarves and boots, pumpkin spice lattes, the smell of wood burning fires in the air.

The coming of the swells and big waves that have been blocked by the Channel Islands all summer. Besides that not a fan of cold weather, rain is nice to sleep to and the hills turn green again, the smell of flowers and plants, the full creeks for my dog to swim in on hikes, campfires, fireplaces, trips to the snow.

Cooler temps, falling leaves, evening walks, fireplaces on. Don't like the coming Standard time though. It should stay DST.

The fact that we don't "Fall" very far into Winter. I like that February daytime temps in the 50s here, compared with the -35 days we sampled in Edmonton for a few weeks last year. Coming home to SB helped us keenly appreciate living here. Any time it's uncomfortably cool or overcast here, it's temporary. Some people like living where you have a full experience of the seasons. I'm glad all those people don't want to live here, and it's fun to go visit them occasionally for a refresher on the joys of living here. :)

Less daylight, driving home from work in the dark, tracking wet, muddy shoes across carpet, more laundry from the increase in clothes, UCSB traffic clogging the 101... oh...what we LOVE most about Fall in Santa Barbara.....lessee.....It's only 5 months 'til the rain machine gets shut off for good and daylight savings time starts again. Now pass me my sweatshirt and the remote control. Dexter is on.

What I love most about fall is the way it makes me feel. I love the Holidays coming up! I grew up in the Central Valley, and there isn't as distinct a season change here, so I do miss that. I love the way the mountains look here, the smell of wood smoke from the fire place...I could go on and on!

Smell of wood fires burning in the neighbor's fireplaces (can't wait until I get one of my own someday), scarves/sweaters/warm clothes, and camping (when you really need that campfire - summer camping is fun, but not the same). Oh, and the potential to see lightning.

The way the air smells near the beach, going to work when it's still dark out (no blinding glare) and those dry warm fall days (throw some desert winds in there and I'm all in).

I enjoy the lower incidence of "marine layer" weather in fall, compared to the May-August period. Fall often sees those lovely warm evening sundowners, with the mountains etched clearly against a deep blue sky... and then there's the Pink Hour!

The smell of rain, wood, freshness. The walks on state streeting with all the lights! The parades! The Fun times at the SB Zoo. The seasonal flavors, the cute boots, with jeans and a cool scarf! The sales! The greenery all around! Sleeping without fans. Snow Days up in the Mountains. Cuddling...I really could go one FOREVER! :)

I love when my woman and me are visitin the old homestead way up back in the hills on a cold night we cuddlin wood cracklin in the fire place Hot Cocca brandy I love it when she picks my nose with those long nails of hers.

The day that the brown leaves on my Maple tree finally give up the ghost and drop off the tree. They keep waiting for cold weather that never comes.

Pomegranates off my tree and the way the earth smells after a good rain. Also like that all the kids have to go back to school. That means hours of peace and quiet in my neighborhood, Monday thru Friday. And walking my dog late at night. Nobody out.
