Just a heads up to SB locals. The Santa Barbara Century starts at the beach early Saturday morning. We ride out to the far end of Carp, and come back 192, Toro Canyon, Ladera and west along Mountain Dr. We then sweat our way up Gibraltar, across the top, down Painted Cave and Old San Marcos, turning west on Cathedral Oaks before we head back to Santa Barbara.

Most of us try our best to be courteous and safe, but please remember that we are vulnerable against cars. Yesterday I crashed when a woman texting in her car was unaware of her surroundings, including me! Please be patient with us as we do this awesome but very challenging ride.

I promise to ride defensively if you try to do the same in your car.
