ZIP IT!
updated: Oct 16, 2012, 9:08 PM

I had a zipper for a convertible top window repaired at a local upholstery store about 15 years ago. It worked great for many years but the zipper no longer closes properly when I zip the zipper on the convertible top window. I would like to have the zipper repaired again, but the upholstery store I used seems to be closed. I don't remember the name but it was located on the 400 block of Anacapa. I think it was located at 410 Anacapa where CoMotion Media is now located. Does anyone know if the upholstery store relocated and is still in business? Thank you.

No, but call The Canvas Loft. They should be able to repair it.

It was Upholstery Galore, and the owner retired and now lives in Ohio.

Call the Renga family and someone there should be able to tell you. There is an attorney by the name of Renga and many others. They were in the upholstery business and should know who their competitors were. Was the store located at the corner of Anacapa and Cota. If so their main business was selling and not upholstery.

Why not go to the luggage repair shop on Chapala? They are used to fixing heavy duty zippers. Lower Chapala near Frazee.

It was Uphostery Galore for sure - they did good, inexpensive work for me back in the 1970's in a different location, before moving to Anacapa St.

Try cachelot. He does the canvas and zippers for marina covers at the harbor.
