People v. Moses Gutierrez

Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced today that a Santa Maria jury convicted Moses Gutierrez of Murder in the 2nd Degree. The jury also found true the special allegation that the defendant used a knife. At the time of the murder the defendant was on probation for illegal possession of a knife. The Victim was Alex Anzures.

The defendant is facing 16 years to life. Sentencing is scheduled for November 15, 2012;

In commending the work done by Deputy District Attorney Paul Greco, Detective Paul Flores of the Santa Maria Police Department, and the Santa Maria Police Department Crime Scene Investigators, District Attorney Dudley stated, "Clearly, for all of you, successfully prosecuting gang violence remains a priority as you continuously seek to enhance the safety of our communities."
