Refugio Road Closed

Refugio Road is closed and the County of Santa Barbara is unable to provide an explanation. Anyone know what's up?

Might be a result of the August fire along the road. Was it damaged?

Nahh, I took a ride up on the moto last weekend (and across tee hee!!). The bridge on the Valley side is out. Looks like they are trying to hurry up and get it fixed. A giant prefab bridge(half pipe) they just need to get the ends of it done so you can get across on a car.

If you mean from Camino Cielo to Santa Ynez, I just called SB Co. and it's been closed since '08 due to the Gap fire damage. Also new record for a first comment. It was Refugio Beach, not Rd., and there have not been any Snowy Plover conventions up there in several years. They prefer the sand fleas at our various beaches.

Seems to be some confusion about which section of Refugio Road you're referring to.... it does go all the way into Santa Ynez you know. 2086.... the SY side has been closed longer than '08. I used to hike it in '05. The damage was incurred during a heavy rain runoff and the damage too much for the county to keep it open except for some local traffic.
