101 Injury Accident

Traffic was snarled late Sunday afternoon after a three-car pile up on
the southbound lanes of the 101. At about 4:45 pm, Montecito Fire, the
CHP and AMR responded to an accident, which occurred between the
San Ysidro and Sheffield Rd. exits. It appears that the occupants of the
middle car, a white Mercedes Benz, were the only ones who sustained
injuries significant enough to require hospitalization. As reported by
Roger the Scanner Guy, one of the men suffered a fractured arm. Both
men were transported via one AMR ambulance to Cottage hospital for
treatment and observation.
Although summer has officially ended, southbound traffic on the 101
was heavy during the later afternoon. As a result of the accident, traffic
was slowed even more, causing long delays for those headed down
south.
