Night Light Pollution

Does anyone know what's up with the big blankets of light above
Carpinteria. Both from the freeway and from the air you can see what look
like whole fields or orchards full of electric lights. I've seen them twice,
some weeks apart. I don't know if they're there every night.

Very common sight in Carp hills. I believe it is the flower growers maximizing the growing or flowering cycle. Perhaps someone who knows more will respond. I know I see them frequently, but haven't made a point to notice whether or not it is nightly.

Poinsettia season is coming--do they grow many in the Carp greenhouses? Seems like they'd be darkening rather than adding more light. Mums? Cycs? Orchids?

There are two plots of land on the slope above Foothill near Santa Monica Rd. that are routinely lit up at night with arrays of light bulbs. Dunno what the crop is but the intention is to maximize growth.

369, er....no, not pot. After 30 plus years of lights (and that's just what I can recall, it's likely longer) I'm sure it's likely to be regular ol' flowers...you know, what Carp grows!

OP, take note next time if these blankets of light, as you called them, are in fact lit up greenhouses.
