Caltrans will continue widening northbound and southbound US 101 and construct the La Conchita Pedestrian Undercrossing and Bates Road in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. WHERE : Northbound and southbound US 101 from Mobil Pier Road to Bates Road in Ventura County.

WHAT TO EXPECT: No lane closures or night work are currently expected.

Dates: Monday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 31, 2012 Hours: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

Work:

Ventura County:

La Conchita Pedestrian Undercrossing: crews will place concrete on the walls for the access ramp. Pedestrian access to the beach will be closed. US 101 Widening: crews will continue constructing retaining walls and installing drainage systems in the median from La Conchita to Bates Road.

Santa Barbara County:

Bates Road Overcrossing: crews will continue installing rebar, place concrete on the deck and construct the median. Flaggers will be utilized when necessary. US 101 Median: crews will continue constructing three retaining walls.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Caltrans is constructing a six-mile carpool lane in each direction for vehicles with two or more passengers, along US 101 from Mobil Pier Road in Ventura County to Casitas Pass Road in Santa Barbara County.

Additional improvements include: a pedestrian undercrossing in La Conchita, concrete barriers, southbound bike lane, median landscaping, reconstruction of existing drainage, closing existing median openings and installing Intelligent Transportation Systems.
