Did anyone in the Bel Air Knolls area feel an earthquake at about 5:22pm?

Nothing on the USGS site. Was Roger riding his trike in the area?

Not sure if it was an earthquake, or a sudden wind gust or . . . ? But the outside doors, garage door, and windows shook rather suddenly and strongly at about that time, and yes, I am in Bel Air Knolls.

Felt it near La Cumbre. Not sure if it was a sonic boom or earthquake.

(Also, because I'm nitipicky, it's Bel Air Knolls.)

I'm on the lower eastside. I think I felt this, although I think I heard it too. It felt more like my house was being shook by some blasts through the air rather than waves traveling up through the ground. Of course I could be wrong, but I don't think it was an earthquake.

I heard it but didn't feel it in San Roque - I thought it was thunder.

Heard it in Goleta. Assumed it was a gust of wind.

I'm up the hill from Hendry's Beach, toward the back side of Hope Ranch. It shook all of my doors and windows very violently for a few seconds! I was wondering if it was an earthquake or some type of sonic boom! Still wondering...

It was not a earthquake ,we felt it on the riveara, it was loud and there was a woop woop sound after it, It shook the house and rattle the windows i was on the deck maybe a sky quake or sonic boom, very strange.

Funny! I pulled over behind the K-mart parking lot and was talking to my daughter about live wires falling. I got out of the car for a moment and felt my feet 'bounce.' I'm not feeling particularly perky and my first thought was a quake, though I didn't see anything shifting or swaying.

On Alta Mesa our house rattled, but nothing was swinging at all. This was a skyquake not an earthquake.

I was in my garden in San Roque - heard a noise and lost my balance. Knew it wasn't from an earthquake 'cuz no aftershock. Didn't seem like a sonic boom - the percussion wasn't the same. Decided it was a car accident nearby. (And the reason I tripped was 'cuz I'm a klutz.)

Back in the '80's, I was at the center of a small earthquake in Rialto, 8 miles east of San Bernardino. My impression was that my house had "jumped". I called a neighbor and asked if it had been an earthquake or if a truck had run into someone's house. The news on the TV within a few minutes reported an earthquake just 8 miles east of San Bernardino. I think it was under 3 points.

What some of you are describing sounds very familiar to me. I was sitting in a wing-back chair in a very secure corner, so I raised up my arms to cover my head in what felt like slow motion.

Will be interesting to see if USGS decides it was an earthquake.

I live just north of Turnpike by the 101 ~ I thought that someone was knocking on my screen door. I didn't check for anything swinging like it could have been an earthquake.

Swinging and swaying occur further out from the center of the quake, just as throwing a rock in the water ripples outward from the center. THAT's when you feel the waves and things seem to last forever. If it's a SMALL earth-crust-adjustment, it mostly feels like a drop or a jump at the middle.

Recently on edhat was a black & white aerial photo of old SB which showed the Mesa Fault quite well. Could it be a little activity there? There are numerous small faults in our area, as shown on the USGS site.

I'd describe it like Quad-Lix. I'm on the eastside and I thought it was the slamming of a door somewhere in the house but no one else was home, it shook the windows. I stopped and listened and there was nothing more so it didn't concern me, but now I really wonder...what was that?

Seems like the experience varied, from area to area. I felt absolutely nothing, but my slightly hard of hearing friend was outside and said he heard a really loud "Boom!" Olive St. and Islay.

If the ground moves, the house must move and delicately suspended items such as sculpture on 4' of chain, must also move. Zero swinging = NO earthquake. This was from above not below.

I'm on TV hill, and I heard a very deep rumbling sound for a couple of seconds at abut 5:20 p.m. My cat heard it too. Didn't feel any shaking. I thought it might be distant thunder, but there was nothing near SB on the NWS radar.

I was on my boat out in the channel when this hit. It sounded as if it came from the south but I didnt see a single plane/contrail or any indication of lightning. It was way too deep and powerful for lighting in my opinion and there werent any big cells around.

It scared the beejeebers out of my vicious pitbull... I was out on the patio, she was in the house and came running out with her tail tucked.

We assumed thunder.
If it was a quake, it was a super quick quake.
