Does anyone know what's going on at the old Deano's site? It's fenced off as if construction is planned.

Located at 1950 Cliff Drive.

They are dividing the old space up and remodling it for non-restaurant uses.

I believe Fantastic Sams and Subway are moving into that space so that Chase Bank can take over their existing spaces and the rest of that end of the building.

As I understand it Chase Bank is moving in. The hair salon & Subway are moving over into what was Deano's place and Chase will be moving in next to them.

BTW, if you want a genuine Deano's pizza, go to the Creekside bar at Hollister and Modoc. The longtime Deano's head chef will gladly make one for you. I grew up on the Mesa and will verify the pizza is exactly the same recipe.

Such a SHAME what Investec has done to our Mesa shopping center, running out all of our local businesses by tripling their rent. Makes me sick. They want "boutique" chain stores and corporates in there instead of supporting our local small businesses, and their clients are happy to take the losses for tax reasons against their other investments. This isn't hearsay, and they've been doing it all over town. How many vacancies on State St. have Investec signs "for rent" in their windows where viable, wonderful local businesses used to be? Shame on this "local" company that is ruining the ability for small local businesses to even exist. SHAME!!!!
