I sometimes move mine around depending upon the direction of the sun. Maybe the city counsel can hire some consultants to get to the bottom of what is going on.

Maybe The City Council could make it illegal to wear hats any other way than the standard position - and better yet, put up signs all over town informing everyone of the law.

Sideways hat-wearing is totally innocuous. Much more preferable than wearing pants 6+ inches below waistline.

Only 5 year old boys, baseball catchers and professional photographers should wear them that way. Otherwise it's just a slavish adherence to gangbanger fashion that none of them understand

Fashion-challenged goofy gangbangers. Goes with the knee high geriatric socks, the oversize plaid underwear shorts and the beater shirt. Makes one look like they have a low IQ so they don't appear like a smart guy. Ignorance is no longer just bliss, it's stylized and officialized! Second theory- it keeps the sun from toasting one side like when you're in a car. Third theory- they failed to read the instructions on how to wear the hat.

The City Council should pass a law banning hats being worn any other way than in the standard front to back position. Signs could then be put up all over town warning of the new law.

Most (weird, in my opinion, but I've never been in prison) fashion trickles down to general society from gangs, prisons and urban fringe behaviors. Yes, suburban white teens, wannabe cool kids, faux hipsters, and even adults trying to claim an identity adopt and mimic the edgy dress and ways of wearing common items that outliers and non-conformists initiate. Sociologists have studied this, and it's pretty interesting. Personally, I'd probably happily accept a trade of hats sideways to pants around the knees. THAT is at tragic look. Makes anyone look like a rodeo clown, not a tough guy.

What motivates teenage girls to wear shorts that have legs only one inch long? Most would deny that they are trying to get leering stares. What motivates fat people to wear pants with the belt line below the hip? Bending over causes observers to look the other way. A sideways cap is much easier to understand.

Could this cap-wearing fashion style have a connection to that movie a few years back about the two guys drinking lots of wine during a bachelor weekend in/around the Santa Ynez Valley? Perhaps.

When I was growing up, we were all taught that a gentleman removes his hat indoors, except for the barn or stables. He was also taught to remove his hat in the presence of a lady. (With the gentleman assuming every female was a lady). How times have changed.

Seems to me fashion is in the eyes of the wearer and if one wants to wear one's cap upside down, sideways, backwards or inside out, well - that's one's perogative.

Maybe they could wear their pants on their head and "cover" with their hat--like a fig leaf. Now there's a new fashion trend.

Does no one remember Huntz Hall with the Bowery Boys? Copied by Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick? The sideways/off angle hat was a sign of goofy wackiness---two of my favorite characters, but these kids today just don't get it!

389, calm down a little. Everyone on these boards needs a little less serious stuff from time to time. Besides I 've wondered about that myself. Goes hand in hand with the pants with the crotch hanging down around the knees and terribly short shorts that women wear that don 't necessarily lend themselves to every wearer. Know what I mean?

I really don't care what anybody wears or how they wear it - as long as they are decent people. Fashion has nothing to do with anything. It is fabric people drape off their bodies. Makes zero difference to me.

WWII air corps maintenance crews wore their caps "funny" too. They flipped the visor up and slightly to the side and it became a 'look' as well. I I believe it was for better peripheral vision while working on the planes, but not positive about that. So the sideways thing is Gangbanger...sheesh I thought it was Skater...silly geezer me.
