Has anyone been to Dr. Singer or either of the Nelson's (mother & daughter)? Any positive or negative results or comments?

Releasing muscle tension which is often the real component of chronic pain is an inside job - a good therapist is better than a good chiropractor. And it can be something as simple as uncovering what one is not taking full responsibility for in their own lives that is the deeper cause of the pain. The more people protest a mind/body connection ironically, the more this reveals itself to be the deeper cause. Something to meditate upon this Sunday morning.

Another vote for Serena. We have been to others, including some here - but the low impact method is absolutely the best. Serena is terrific. You will not be disappointed.

Alan Schroeder, DC on La Cumbre Road -- a very talented member of the Schroeder family of chiropractors, long successfully treating patients in Santa Barbara. With a few gentle treatments to my shoulders and lower back, I practically danced out of his office.

Dr. Kevin Fisher is great if you must go chiro. Coming from years of back issues though, I use Brian Wessel. He's a physical therapist and has helped me tremendously.

I second the recommendation for Macy Chiropractic. Very low-impact (they use the Activator tool), and they are both extremely knowledgeable and warm.

Instead of worrying about a crackle pop, how about a set of relaxing/strengthening exercises tailored for you, plus maybe just regular massages if you wish? Michael Mocny at Active Physical Therapy on State St. does ultrasound, wet heat pack and then your personal exercise routine, and will get your muscles untangled in record time.

Another vote for Serena Singer. We've been going to her for years. She is now located on de la ViƱa just down from Trader Joe's. Her partner, Jeff Wilson, is an equally talented physical therapist and is now working out of Serena's office on Fridays. One caution -- they are both so popular they are often booked weeks in advance.

I'm on my way to the man you want in just a few minutes. He is Dr David Inman, a very pleasant young man and quite gentle. Have been to others in town but he is the very best. One of the very few with a warm, computerized, stretch table which magically repairs your back and takes away the pain. He totally cleared my back pain, sciatica, etc. after I had been endlessly treated by many others. He is located in Victoria Court next to the city parking lot.

Dr Serena Singer is my MIRACLE QUEEN. No chiropractor, over the many years I've used one, was able to "fix" my back and neck. Three visits to Serena and the problems WENT AWAY. One other comment I tell people about Serena Singer---don't roll your eyes as she works her magic!

OP, there's nothing a chiropractor can do to help you long term. Your best bet is is to stay as limber as possible while strengthening your core muscles. Go see one of these chiropractors for short term relief, but plan on doing yoga or something similar to help longer term.
