my only concerns would be safety and upkeep. I wouldn't want to get it done unless I knew that I wouldn't have to have it done ever again, and that it would be completely safe for my body.

Just remember, go BIG or go home! Seriously though, I'm a normal guy, and I would say to the OP don't do it. Us guys really do prefer natural to augmented. Perhaps there are other reasons you've decided to get the implants but I'm one vote for staying with what you've got. Lastly, I suggest you read the book "Breasts: A Natural and Unnatural History" by Florence Williams before having surgery.
